Harnaaz Sandhu of India wins Miss Universe for the first time in 21 years.

Harnaaz Sandhu of India has been crowned Miss Universe for the first time in 21 years, replacing Lara Dutta, who was crowned Miss Universe in 2000.
Ms. Sandhu represented India today in Eilat, Israel, at the 70th Miss Universe 2021 pageant.

Nadia Ferreira of Paraguay and Lalela Mswane of South Africa were beaten to the title by the 21-year-old Punjab girl.

Only two Indians have won Miss Universe before Harnaaz Sandhu: actresses Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.

Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, presented Ms Sandhu with the crown.
